Lexmark Prestige Pro805 Printer Review

The Lexmark Prestige Pro805 is a large multifunction printer when you first take it out of the box: measuring 25×46.5×39.2cm and weighing in at 9.27kg it is definitely a huge add-on to just about any office. Together with other oddly-titled machines (which include such gems as the Impact, Prevail and also Intuition), the wireless-enabled Pro805 can print, copy and scan. Priced at around £120, this printer really does cost a lot of money, thus you have to ensure that it’s capable of delivering your needs before you spend your money.

It’s thus clear that the Pro805 has a myriad of calling cards, but the most unusual of these is the 4.3-inch web-enabled touchscreen display that takes the place of the classic colour TFT panel at the front end of the machine. The sleek piano black finish added a touch of refinement to the traditional Lexmark printer design. The Smart Solutions interface lets you download applications to set up on the printer (like RSS feeds, and one-touch printing for commonly used documents assuming a personal computer is coupled to the printer at the time).

Connectivity is taken care of thanks to 802.11b/g/n or the standard Ethernet port at the back of the device. At the front alongside the touchscreen are standard PictBridge connections (though only for SD, Memory Stick, xD and MMC cards). If you don’t feel like freeing yourself from cords, a USB slot is available at the back just beside the Ethernet port. A great addition for business people is the scanner’s ability to read business cards as well as transfer information in to a communications program of choice (like Microsoft Outlook). There is auto duplexing too. There are four included ink cartridges, one black and three colours ( magenta, cyan and yellow) all XL (high yield) Paper consumables are packed from the front of the machine.

The first time we encountered the touchscreen interface is when we set-up the device, and we were really impressed. It is nice and responsive, as well as user-friendly. It additionally gives a nice visual indication (complete with little animated bubbles!) to inform you the existing ink tank levels. This is the place our affection for the unit starts to wane. In our experience, there’s always an element of any printer to be frustrating, and for the Pro805 it wins the tearing hair accolade for having the most fiddly ink tanks. It takes a lot of jotling just to fit the tanks into the printhead as it would not snap into position. This printer isn’t particularly fast – with our standard test document sent via the USB connection it took one minute, 13 seconds for the first page to emerge from the printer, with lengthy delays of 10 seconds or more between pages thereafter.

Fortunately, text quality with standard 12-point font was fairly good, though at larger sizes there was a small amount of smudging and banding across the text. Print speed was somewhat slow at almost double of Lexmark’s claim of 24 seconds for a 10x15cm photo quality print on photo paper. Print quality was decent, but nowhere in the vicinity of lab quality having noticeable droplets and also over-saturated colours.

Among Lexmark’s perennial claims is the low running cost of their printers, in this case – 1p per page on black text. The Pro805 has four ink cartridges, one black and three individual colour. The best buy is the 100XL cartridges in return program format.

How to Choose an Arabic Tattoo

General No Comments »

Why get an Arabic tattoo? This trend is widely spread in the UK and with Angelina Jolie’s and Rihanna’s help – it is also becoming more and more popular in the US. However, this is not the main reason why people decide to get an Arabic tattoo. The most prominent reason is having family or roots that you want to commemorate.

So how to choose your Arabic inscription?

First of all, choose a word or phrase that you relate to. Many people choose poetry, or inspirational quotes. The easiest choice is a name of you or someone you love.

Second, consult a professional translator to see how well your word or phrase translate into Arabic. Arabic lacks certain letters that exist in English so even the simplest name can sound and mean something different in Arabic. Check if your translation will have other meanings that you may be unaware of.

Third, which is a very important step, choose the font and design for your tattoo.

When the trend of Arabic tattoos started, the traditional Arabic font was the only option available, unless you knew someone who has Arabic installed on his computer and can download fonts for you. But now, you can Google the term “Arabic tattoo” and come across many beautiful fonts and designs for your tattoo. Some sites offer calligraphy which is a very special way to display your tattoo.

If you are more traditional, you might want to go with a simple circle or a vertical line.

And for the last part – which is a crucial step: make sure you give the tattoo artist accurate instructions on how to place your tattoo. Chances are your tattoo artist will not be able to tell if you have given him a flipped design. So writing a simple “left” and “right” on your design, guarantees that the result will be an actual Arabic inscription tattoo and not a mirrored one.

If you do learn to identify the Arabic letters at some point, you will come to realize that many tattoos are actually meaningless, or inverted, rotated, mirrored and flipped.

Amber Sheldon, who recently got her Arabic tattoo and helped in preparing this article, said the following thing: “When I started thinking about my Arabic tattoo, I thought that a simple Google search will give me the answer on how to translate my short tattoo phrase – ‘my art my life’. But the more I looked into it I realized that doing it right means taking this phrase to a professional translator and a tattoo designer. It took a couple of days extra but knowing that my tattoo is correct was worth it. And being a designer myself I appreciated the option to choose a design that is not like all the other Arabic tattoos you see out there!”

Best Forex Trading Indicator for Swing Trading

Here we will look at the best forex trading indicator for swing trading this is for trading into overbought / oversold areas within the major trend. Here we will look at how to do this, with the stochastic indicator and show you a simple powerful method for big profits.

Swing trading is easy to do, logical and easy to understand and can be very effective. The stochastic indicator combined with valid support and resistance gives you a robust simple strategy you can learn quickly than can be highly effective in making big forex profits so here it is.

An Introduction

George Lane developed the stochastic indicator which was based on the premise that in an up-trend, prices tend to close near their highs and of course in a down-trend the reverse occurs, prices tend to close near their lows.

This simple logic is the basis of the stochastic indicator but despite its simplicity it’s a powerful tool.

The stochastic should our view be used in association with areas of support and resistance and be used to enter positions when price momentum wanes in an uptrend below resistance and strengthens in a down trend above resistance.

The Mathematics

If you are technically minded, the stochastic calculation is outlined below. If you are not don’t worry, as most major chart services plot the stochastic and you can simply see the set ups visually – here it is:

The stochastic is plotted as two lines %K, a fast line and %D, a slow line.

The %K line is more sensitive than %D

The %D line is a moving average of %K.

The %D line then triggers the trading signals.

The lines are plotted on a scale of 1 to 100.

“Trigger” lines can be drawn on stochastic charts at the 80% (overbought) and 20% (oversold) levels. A signal is then generated when the stochastic lines cross.

The Stochastic can help you enter trading signals in a number of ways and here we have outlined the 3 major ways you can use it in a swing trading strategy.

As an Overbought Oversold

When the 20% and 80% trigger lines are crossed look to do the following in terms of initiating your trading signal. Take a long position and buy when the stochastic moves below 20% and then rises above this level. On the other hand take a short position and sell, when the stochastic rises above 80% and then comes back below this level.

Stochastic Crossovers Against the Trend

This is a highly reliable signal

You can buy when the %K line rises above the %D line and sell when the %K line falls below the %D line.

The most reliable or high odds crossovers occur when the %K line intersects after the peak of the %D line.

Stochastic Divergences

Divergences between the stochastic and the underlying price trend warn that a potential price change is on the way and are a great leading indicator for your trading signals.

For example, if prices are making a series of new highs and trending upwards and the stochastic moves lower or crosses to the downside then price momentum and velocity is weakening and the reverse occurs of course in a bear market.

Why It Works

The reason it works and we consider it the best forex technical indicator for swing trading is based upon human psychology.

A long term price trend does not just go in a straight line – there are peaks and troughs along the way. Forex traders will push prices to far too quickly and prices then return back to fair value. It is these moves within long term trends, that swing traders want to catch – so by combining the stochastic with simple support and resistance is very effective.

If you are new to forex trading then swing trading with the stochastic gives you a simple method which works and the stochastic is the best forex technical indicator to use and while there are others, using the stochastic wisely, with support and resistance lines, can make big consistent profits.

Decorating Wedding Chair Covers

General No Comments »

If wedding chair covers are used, trimmings are added, or the two are combined, the results when you decorate your venue chairs will be fantastic. While wedding chair covers instantly and easily do up venue chairs, other decorations can work wonders too. Plain white or ivory covers work as a ready canvas for your wedding colours. Decorative accents may include greenery, flowers, or seasonal ornaments. With so many options, one thing is certain – no wedding venue has to be spoilt by horrid, unattractive chairs.

Ribbons and Bows

Ribbons are a great way to accessorise your wedding chair covers. A single band of ribbon may be used for a modern and clean effect, while several bands of ribbons can give a more dreamy appearance to your wedding chair covers. Simple bows can have an extremely eye catching effect when placed as an accessory for wedding chair covers. Huge bows can be used to signify the important tables, or can just be placed on every chair. Available in every shade you can imagine, ribbons, bows and sashes are a simple, effective way to introduce colour and add interest, particularly if the rest of your wedding linen is white.

Fabric

Fabric strips and sashes can be used much like bows can. Having a belt of draped fabric on the back of a chair in a different colour can add a classy look to a wedding chair cover. Cut a wide length of fabric in a colour or pattern that suits your theme and drape it gently from the chair back or tie it in a snug band in a ruffled or pleated effect. Alternatively, 2 toned material could be pulled in a diagonal sweep across the chair.

Pillows

Use decorative throw pillows, or small pillows that you can cover with fabrics to match your theme or wedding colours. This suggestion offers comfort as well as style, though it is perhaps only appropriate for less formal weddings.

Flowers

Flowers could be used on the backs of your wedding chair covers, adding a splash of colour. Flowers that compliment the centre pieces could be slipped into chair bows or sashes. Otherwise, ask your florist about creating flower chair backs to co-ordinate with your floral table centres. If your budget doesn’t stretch to a flower garland for each guest, then just trim the chairs at your top table. Otherwise, you might want to contemplate using artificial flowers. Instead of garlands you could use little posies and hang them from the chairs with ribbons. Attaching a single flower to the side of the chair with a pretty ribbon is a very understated way to style an informal wedding.

Personalising

Draw attention to the bride and grooms chairs by adding their names to the covers or sashes in embroidery. Personalise each chair with the name of the guest assigned to that seat. This will create a more contemporary reception look as your tables can be less cluttered; just attach your place name tags to the backs of chairs. Be sure that you use a bold colour and clear writing so that guests can find their place setting effortlessly.

Themes

If you have a theme, rather than a simple colour scheme for your wedding décor, the possibilities are endless when it comes to your chairs. Snow flakes are great for winter theme weddings while spring flowers can be used for a fresh look in March. Bright, vivid colours work well in summer for wedding chair covers and autumn foliage can be used to add warmth to your wedding venue.
